When you fall in love with men’s skincare products: My experience with Oars+Alps.

Have you ever fallen in love with a skincare product created for men? Wait, don’t raise your eyebrow quite yet, I’m not trying to make you switch your favorite products, although you may finish this post planning a trip to Target (or clicking the links below) to get some new goodies for you and maybe your favorite man.

I’m a newbie in the blogging and Instagramming world, but one thing I learned pretty quickly was to say yes only to collaborations that are meaningful to me. By doing so I can be authentic and sincere when talking about any product. And it wasn’t different when I agreed to collaborate with Oars+Alps, a natural and cruelty-free skincare company originally created for the masculine public, but is inviting us to give it a try and share the experience with other women.

Of course, I was excited to try a new natural skincare brand, one of my beauty resolutions for 2019, but I was also instigated by the opportunity of trying products created for men. But before I agreed with the collaboration I did a quick research about Oars+Alps and discovered that it was founded by two women, Laura Lisowski, and Mia Duchnowski, and together they raised nearly $2MM to start the company. They also support SOS Outreach, an organization that teaches positive values to kids through outdoor sports.

I didn’t need any other information, I was sold – Put me down, Oars+Alps, and #takemetotheoars

What Products Did I choose to try?

Although the beard oil looked amazing, I had to leave it out for obvious reasons. I purchased the deodorant and the Essentials Kit, which includes the Power Cleansing Face Stick, the Face Moisturizer + Eye Cream and the Wakeup Eye Pen. I decided on these products because they would complement my skincare routine perfectly. I have been looking for a natural moisturizer and eye cream for months, and when I saw a cleansing on a stick I didn’t think twice. I NEEDED THAT STICK! Also, the reviews are great and I was curious to know if they are everything the guys are talking about.

The Results Were Beyond My Expectation!

The face stick became one of my favorite cleansings. I have a friend who says that “everything is better on a stick”, and it’s no different in this case. It’s super easy to apply and the charcoal gently exfoliates the skin, and still deeply cleaning the pores. It can be used daily even if you have sensitive skin. I use it at night, after taking the makeup off and before applying the tonic. It’s the perfect way to go!

The moisturizer + Eye Cream is super lightweight and it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling as some do. It provides the perfect hydration after using the serum. I also love the fact that it is fragrance-free, something I take into consideration when I’m shopping for skincare products.

Last but not least, the Wakeup Eye Pen, has caffeine to help de-puff under eyes and reduce the dark circles. I keep it in the fridge and the feeling of the metal roller while applying it is amazing. There is no better way to “wake up” your eyes! I can see the difference when my husband uses it in the morning! Oh, didn’t I mention we are sharing skincare products now?

I tried the natural deodorant for a couple of days, but I felt the scent wasn’t for me. It was really good but too masculine for my taste. Well, it took only 2 seconds for my husband to take possession and make it his new favorite deodorant.  Oars+Alps also sent a charcoal body soap, and although I prefer liquid soaps, this one got a special place in my shower! Just like the cleanser, the charcoal gently exfoliates the skin, and it has a fresh scent that makes me go back for more.

Will I continue to Use Oars+Alps?

It is known that there are differences between men’s and women’s skin. Men’s skin is about 25 % thicker, and produces more collagen and sebum, which turns the skin more oily. Because of these differences, men’s skin is less sensitive, but more acne prone and that’s why they don’t need as heavy cream-based in their routine. With this said, keep in mind that using a product created for men’s skin may not work for you, especially if you have dry skin.

In my case, I have a normal skin type and the product felt really good. I’ll definitely continue using in my routine, and sharing it with my husband.
