Natural Skincare Subscription Box – My experience with C’Nu and Muni Muni

A couple of months ago, I made my first ever beauty resolutions list. Starting that month, I would dedicate more time educating myself about “clean” products and give preference for this type of brands when shopping for skincare. Another resolution is to support smaller business, preferably founded by women.

But what is a “clean” product?

There isn’t a concrete definition by the FDA for what “Clean skincare product” stands for. After some research, I found that there is a consensus in the industry that clean skincare stands for products free from toxic and potentially harmful ingredients, sustainable, and cruelty-free.

One of my favorite definition for “clean products” comes from Drunk Elephant’s founder, Tiffany Masterson – “It has to be nontoxic or low-hazard and it has to be bioavailable, meaning able to get into your skin.”

The Universe Said Amen

The same week I made the resolution, I received an email from C’Nu (pronounced “see new”) asking if I wanted to collaborate with them in a small campaign for their skincare box subscription. I would receive a box with 4-5 full-size skin care products and in return, I’d share my experience on Instagram. But what does make C’nu Box special? They only partner with CLEAN companies.

If this wasn’t the universe waving back to my intention, I don’t know what else it could be. Of course, I agreed to collaborate with them and in December 2018, I received a beautiful box with Muni Muni products.

Clean product, check; Small Business, check, founded by a woman, check!

C’Nu Monthly Skincare Box Subscription only brings products that are cruelty-free, chemical free, and made with natural sustainable ingredients.

About Muni Muni

The company name, pronounced Moonie moonie means think deeply to ponder, in Tagalog. And as the name suggests, the products are thoughtfully created to deliver results using only natural, non-toxic, cruelty-free and sustainable ingredients. Even their package is thought to have minimum impact on the environment and is 100% recyclable.

Products Review

I received 5 full-size products and for one month I included them in my skincare routine.

Muni Muni Skincare Clean Products

Cleansing Oil for Normal Skin

Formulated with 4 different oils and a delicious smell of lavender, this cleansing oil is thicker than others in the market, but works very well to gently clean the skin and leave it moisturized.

I liked it for daily skincare routine, but it didn’t work very well to remove heavier makeup, like dark smokey eyes, eyeliner, and a thicker mascara. I had to use another cleansing oil to completely clean the makeup.

Luminous Face and Body Hydrating Glow Complex

I became addicted to this complex! It combines natural oils and light-weight hydrating serum for maximum impact in one step. The Hyaluronic Acid serum plumps and hydrates the skin while the deep berry hues of Rosehip and Sea Buckthorn leave a natural glowing tint. It perfect for daily use under foundation or to highlight shoulders and collar bone.

Rose Balancing Tone

I avoid toners that have essential oils in their formula because it causes breakouts in my skin. I gave this one a try for a few days, but it didn’t work for me. I asked a friend to try and she loved it. She has dry skin and is enjoying this toner without any complaint.

Green Sea Clay Mask

This mask is made with 2 types of clays, the French Green and the Dead Sea clays. Combined they gently exfoliate the skin, remove toxins, tightening the pores and boost circulation giving a glowing and healthy look to the skin.

I love this mask, and it’s a great option for days when you wake up with a tired and dullness look.

So Smooth Exfoliating Body Scrub

This is the best body scrub I ever used! It combines natural exfoliants, conditioning oils and botanicals extracts that gently exfoliate, nourish and tone the skin. I step out the showers and my skin feels exactly how it is described in their website “softener, moisturized and oh, so smooth.”

I loved the experience of receiving a box filled with good quality clean skincare products. And although not every product worked for me, those that did became favorite and I’ll continue using them.

C’Nu subscription is $52 per month. You have the option to do it monthly or bimonthly, and you will receive over $120 in skincare products. I enjoyed it so much, that I became a member. It’s a fun and cheaper way to learn about clean brands that are available in the market.

Also, C’Nu will be donating a portion of your subscription to the Humane Society of the United States to support the fight against cosmetic testing on animals.
